Windows8Themes.Org Gets New Fresh Logo

As you might have noticed, Windows8themes.org has a fresh new logo, I hope you like it. If you would like to create a fancy logo yourself, here are some tips.

Windows 8 Themes Org Logo

For the logo I used the font “Sergoe Print (Regular)”, because I wanted a font with a more elegant comic-look than HVD Poster that would fit my color scheme a little better. When you create a logo always keep in mind the color scheme of your site and the topic of your site. A comic look might not be the best choice for a business or shopping site. Also, you should always use the colors of your site in the logo, it’s one of the best ways to create a logo that actually looks right on your site. Words in a logo are not always wanted, but then you could still use some of the colors on the website. In Photoshop you can easily create an “color adjustment” layer for specific objects.

On a sidenote, many fonts do not include the publishing rights, for example for the font Sergoe Print you first need to acquire a license from sites like ascendercorp.com, which is about $30.

For free fancy icons, you should check our various places like smashingmagazine.com, sites where you can download icons that include the publishing rights. Always make sure they include the rights! There are various other designer sites where you can download free icons, but it’s also not so difficult to create some icons yourself, with a few sharp lines and a bit of colour you can do a lot.

Last, but not least, you might want to add some text to the logo. For the windows8themes.org logo, I added a subline that describes the site in 3 words: Themes, Tutorials, Gaming. Sublines can give a logo a more professional look, but it keep it decent, you don’t want a dominant headline, that’s why you should use subtle grey colors for a possible subline.

I hope you enjoyed this little guide on creating logos and more importantly, I hope you enjoy the new logo.

With that being said,
Cheers!
