The Sony Vaio Duo 11 is a hybrid device that runs on Windows 8 and carries the Ultrabook brand. It is an ultrabook model with a sliding 11.6inch display that allows the device to switch between notebook and slate use modes. It has a full HD (1920×1080) resolution display and it is also touch sensitive for using as a slate. It supports the use of a digitizer stylus and it comes with one of its own. It is a capacitive touchscreen display.

It is running on an Intel Core i7-3517U and you can also choose to have the Intel Core i5-3317U instead. It comes in Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro as operating systems and as an in built Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics chip that shares the 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz SD RAM built in. You can choose to upgrade to 8GB memory if you want.

Storage comes in the form of 128GB SSD or 256GB SSD and there are an assortment of connectivity ports too. There’s HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, VGA and headphones. It also has a combo slot for Memory Stick Duo/SD card slot. It is pretty well equipped when it comes to the internals as well. It has Bluetooth 4.0, WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n, NFC, GPS, Gyro, Digital Compass (Magnetometer), Accelerometer and also a backlit keyboard.

Sony says the device gives you a battery life of 4.5hours that can be doubled with the included battery pack. This is of course at average settings doing not very heavy work with the brightness set to 50%. The device apparently comes with quick charge mode that can deliver 60minutes of performance on 10 minutes of charging or it can go up to 80% charge in just 55minutes. A full charge takes 135minutes (2h15m). Availability is November this year with the base model (Core i5-3317U) selling for SG$1,999 (~US$1,637) and the higher model (Core i7-3517U) selling for SG$2,699 (~US$2,211).
