Skulls of the Shogun is a highly anticipated Xbox Live Arcade game that is about to become a multi-platform one that is available for Windows 8, Windows Phone and Surface.
Windows 8 To Have Skulls Of The Shogun Launched Right Alongside It
As per a Joystiq report, the game’s developers have said they plan to ship the game for XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade), Windows 8, Windows Phone 7 and both the Surface tablets at the same time as the Windows 8 launch. So people will have access to it as soon as Windows 8 releases.
However, Jake Kazdal of 17-bit (the studio that develops the game) also said that this is what they are planning to do. But they weren’t certain yet and hence nothing is for sure. At least that means that the game is going to be released somewhere around the Windows 8 launch if not on the same day.
For those of you who don’t know yet — Microsoft has announced October 26th this year as the official date for the General Availability of Windows 8. So if the game releases at the same time, you are likely to be playing it in time for Halloween. Given that the name of the game has to do with the Skull of some dead Japanese warrior clan, that seems to fit the timing rather nicely. Besides, the developer studio was also called Haunted Temple at some point in the past, so it all matches up quite nicely.
Windows 8 will need as many good games and other apps possible to really make an impact upon arrival. Users are still giving it the benefit of doubt with the small number of apps available on the store for the Preview builds right now. But once it goes official, the judgments passed will be of the no holds barred kind. So Microsoft better be prepared for it.
