Prevent users from uninstalling Metro applications
In order to prevent users form uninstalling Metro applications in Windows 8 we are going to modify the Administrative Templates yet again
Microsoft introduces a new user interface: Metro . The Metro User Interface exists along with Window’s old Aero interface. The applications which are running on this user interface are called Metro applications. But the need of each application is dependent on the user. It will be irritating, if another user of the computer uninstalls your preferred applications because of the fact, that he/she doesn’t require that. So, in that case, you might want to prevent users form uninstalling Metro Applications. If you want to do this, then follow the instructions carefully.
1. Open the Run window by pressing Windows + R key simultaneously. Now, type “gpedit.msc” without quotes in the text area and hit Enter .
2. Now the Local Group Policy Editor window will appear. Navigate to User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar.
There you will find Prevent users from uninstalling applications from Start on the right pane of the window. Double click on it or hit Enter after selecting that option to open.
3. By default this Not Configured option is checked. Check Enabled and click on OK to apply the change.
Now you are done with it. From now on, no user can uninstall the metro applications for the start menu. You can check this out by going to the Start Menu.
The Uninstall option will no longer be available there. Here the first picture was taken before the change and the second is taken after the change.
You can see the change there.
