Policies: Prevent users from uninstalling apps

You might have noticed Windows 8 comes with many quality Metro-style apps and one can always download more apps from the Windows Store. Usually if you right click on the app, you will see an uninstall option. If you click it then your app will be removed. Because of this reason, you may accidentally uninstall an app. So to avoid that you may want to prevent users from uninstalling metro apps. In this tutorial, we are showing you how to prevent users from uninstalling metro apps.

1. open the Charms bar by moving your mouse pointer over the right cornor of your screen. Alternatively you may press Windows key + C on Start screen to open Charms bar. Then select Search.

2. Next, type ‘gpedit.msc’ in the search box and click on the search button. Then click on the gpedit icon on the left side of the pane.

3. Next, Expand User Configuration and then Administrative Templates. Next, click on the Start Menu and Taskbar.

4. Next,on it’s right pane, check for “Prevent users from uninstalling applications from Start”. Double-click on it or right click on it and select Edit. Then, select Enabled and finally click Ok button to apply the change. That are the complete steps to prevent users from uninstalling metro apps.

Microsoft has been updating the Windows Store periodically with new apps. By now you might know that installing, updating, and uninstalling Metro apps are fairly simple in Windows 8. In fact, uninstalling an app is also very simple in Windows 8.
