Microsoft Officially Confirms Windows 8 App Store
We previously reported about a possible Windows 8 app store. Now it’s official – Windows 8 will have an app store!
Steven Sinofsky confirmed in a blog entry that Windows 8 will include an app store. He also revealed that 35 teams à 25-40 developers are working on Windows 8 to add new features.
Ok, basically the app store is old news – it was only logically to compete with Apple’s app store and add something to Windows 8 where people can buy software, games, music and more.
Now you might wonder what Apple has to say about that Windows 8 app store. Obviously, they tried to register the trademark “app store”, but it looks like they failed. Microsoft argues that the name “app store” is WAY too general – I personally agree.
We still have no official release date, but a 2012 release date is possible.
We’ll keep you posted on the latest app store rumors and news.
