If you want to know more about the upcoming features in Windows 8, here’s an overview of all leaked Windows 8 features.
If it was not for leaked slides, then who knows what we would speculate on with Windows 8! Microsoft is giving away little to the press in regard to what features their new system will contain; however, there are plenty of leaked slides to evaluate. In this guide, we will explore some of these leaked guides. There were three new screenshots in total detailing some innovative features. These screenshots were first published on Win7China.
Leaked Feature #1: New GUI
The slides that were leaked offered minimal information in regard to a new GUI. However, they did show that the same taskbar as Windows 7 is in use. There is no doubt that Windows 8 will contain a different GUI; but, nothing has been revealed at all. Anything that you see on the Internet at this point is just a modded Windows 7 interface; therefore, you should take no notice.
The following information is from Russian site Winreview:
Leaked Feature #2: Instant On/Off
One of the most popular potential developments surrounds that Windows 8 will have an instant on and off setting. This development could save households substantial energy if they use it correctly. Instant on will recognise when you have sat down in front of your system, powering up the computer and logging you into to your profile. Instant off will come into play when you leave your computer, either shutting it down or putting it into standby.
Leaked Feature #3: Hard Reset
It now seems that when we shut down our systems we will have the following choices: Switch user, log off, restart, sleep, shutdown and hard restart. This feature will restore the system to factory settings but will not remove any user files. This could eliminate certain viruses, and also help restore stability. The great thing about this new addition is that it could potentially only take two minutes, which is just as quick as a regular restart on a Windows Vista laptop.
Leaked Feature #4: App Store
Another feature that has appeared in various leaked slides is the application store. It is believed that you will be able to access the application store directly from your desktop so you can download what you need to your PC and transfer it to your phone. It is also believed that applications will play a leading role in how we use Windows 8, and if this is the case, we will be able to use the majority of these applications on our PC’s.
Unfortunately, until the release date we will have to rely on leaked slides to give us our information, but until then we can expect plenty of leaked slides to find their way into the public domain.
We’ll keep you posted when we know more about the upcoming features in Windows 8!
