If you’re trying out the Windows 8 developer preview, you might want to customize it using the registry. To do that you obviously need to know where the registry editor is.

Open the registry editor in Windows 8

1. Open the Windows Explorer
2. Go to C:\Windows\ and you’ll find a file called regedit.exe
3. You could add this to your taskbar or Windows 8 desktop

If you need more instructions or if you have problems opening the registry editor in Windows 8, please post the error message you receive below.

If you can’t open the registry editor it might mean that you are either not logged into an admin account or that your system files are corrupted. Try to refresh your PC using the new Windows 8 feature “refresh PC”.
