Windows 8 hardware requirements will be lower than expected. In fact, if your PC can run Windows 7, you will be able to run Windows 8!
Tim Reller announced that the hardware requirement for Windows 8 are basically the same as the requirements to run Windows 7.
During a speech Reller pointed out that the system requirements will be reduced over the time.
This announcement by the Vice president of Microsoft gives a lot of information about what Microsoft is trying to achieve through Windows 8. It’s good to know that Windows 8’s hardware requirement are considerably lower than expected, which is great for early adopters.
The company has announced that the OS will be available for a wider range of hardware and operating system size will become slimmer with the time.
The system requirement for Windows 8 will be similar to Windows 7:
- 1 GHz or higher 32 bit or 64 bit processor
- Minimum 20 GB space is require for 64 bit processor and 16 GB for 32 bit processor
- 1 GB RAM for 32 bit processor or 2 GB for 64 bit processor.
- Graphics device for DirectX 9.
It however sounds like that in future Microsoft operating system will a have feature like Hardware evaluation that will install Windows 8 with more advanced system resource usage. Think about it, it only makes sense if you want to run Windows 8 on mobile phones, tablets and desktop PC’s to have a very flexible resource usage and a system that supports it.
