Acer Aspire S7 Ultrabooks Now Come With Touchscreen And Windows 8 Support
Acer has released new Aspire S7 series ultrabooks that come with touchscreens, two different sizes and complete Windows 8 readiness. The two sizes, 11inch and 13inch, are clearly targeted at the ultramobile crowd and should work great as more productive and usable replacements for tablets and other such devices.
The Aspire S7 series devices sport the Unibody industrial design that is carved out of a single piece of aluminium. They come with high definition IPS LCD displays that have a 10 point touchscreen overlay on top of them. The resolution is 1920×1080 and the display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass. Being Ultrabooks, these are powered by Intel Core series processors (the latest ones) and are optimized to run Windows 8, the upcoming OS from Microsoft. If you want to start saving up right now, the pricing information has also been released.
The Aspire S7 series starts off at $1,199 for the 11.6inch model called the S7-191. The 13.3inch model will set you back by $1,399 and is called the S7-391. They are both coming to the stores on the same day as the Windows 8 launch and that is on the 26th of October.
The processors used in these devices are 3rd generation Intel Core series processors (Intel Core i5-3317UB and Core i7-3517U depending on the model). Storage is handled by Solid State drives in RAID 0 configuration that gives them faster read and write capabilities. The battery is embedded in to the system for better performance and is made out of high performance lithium polymer material for giving an estimate 6 hours of battery life under average use. You can also opt for a second battery to double that amount and push the battery life up to 12 hours. There’s also Theft Shield theft protection and other extras from Acer.
